Planning Poker is a methodology of work estimation widely used in Agile project management designed to adequately and efficiently quantify work. Especially in Vietnam, many teams use the technique of planning poker and it acts as a trend to improve the workspace productivity. In this article, we present the story of planning poker use in the detailed manner applicable in Vietnam. First of all, the team members should possess the list of tasks or features to estimate. Then, each individual should pick a ranking card accordingly to the complexity of the task. Further steps of planning poker use include simultaneous revealing their answers not to influence each other. After numbers are declared, a team gathers and discusses the difference in the estimates to come to a consensus. The process allows project teams in Vietnam to improve their assessment and resource management capabilities. In conclusion, planning poker is not only easy to understand but also assist in creating the open collaborative and imaginative atmosphere. Used correctly planning poker will be an effective facilitation tool for projects’ achieving success and resource optimization in Vietnam.
